Beer Lovers Unite

Midtown Oktoberfest returns for another year of fun

Sacramento, CA, August 18, 2022 – Der Biergarten is back with its annual beer festival, Oktoberfest, on September 24. This event is located in the heart of midtown at 2332 K Street from 3 – 9 p.m., where beer lovers can enjoy German beer and its culture.

This annual event brings a ton of beer loving people from around the Sacramento Region to try out the best of German beer. They offer 32 draft beer and cocktails. This event includes games, German beer and German entertainment with live music from the German band, The Alpenmeisters. Also, DJ Eddie Z will be DJing along with MC Tommy G. This event is outside, as the block of K and 24th street will be closed.

This event is cash only, and tickets are non-refundable. Tickets are not available at the door. Der Biergarten warns that tickets bought outside of Der Biergarten and Eventbrite may not be real. They will not pass through the scanners, which means no entry.

Parking is very limited in midtown, so walking, biking, or taking an uber are all encouraged.

This is the second straight year of the in-person festival, as in 2020 it went virtual due to COVID. Currently, there are no COVID-19 mandates for Sacramento County, so a negative COVID-19 test, masks or proof of vaccination are not required. Things are subject to change, and if so, employers, volunteers and guests for this event are required to adhere to the city/country rules.

Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite and are currently at an early bird price of $10 per person till September 1 to help with the costs of blocking off K Street. After September 1, tickets jump to $15. Food and drinks are separate from admission tickets and can be purchased in advance and at the time of the event.

Our children are the future: Positive Youth Development can lead the way

As adults, most feel like we have a sense of purpose, but did you know that reports suggest that only “one-fifth of youth feel they have a purpose” (Hill & Burrow, 2021, pg.1). This is where positive youth development (PYD) can benefit youth. PYD is essential to children’s well-being as it can help children grow into their own. It can gain them confidence and well-being among their peers and prevent drug and substance abuse.

Join the Positive Youth Development webinar by Robert Marshall Media on January 20 at 6 p.m. for an informational webinar. Robert Marshall Media is a PR media professional that has done research on PYD for its client, the Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation. We are helping this organization develop its youth programs to build its brand to the next level.

To start the webinar, we will welcome everyone and then jump into PYD and how research suggests children from all backgrounds can benefit from it. Then, we'll jump into how youth programs can adopt PYD. The next topic will look at experiences where PYD benefited children, and then the last topic will look at everyday life using PYD outside of youth programs that will help youth make day-to-day decisions.

Attendees can expect this webinar to be 15 minutes, with questions open to the audience after the presentation. Attendees are welcome to take notes for future reference. In addition, this is a recorded webinar; therefore, contact me for the link.

The purpose of this webinar is to inform the attendees how positive youth development can benefit youth. It is a great approach to apply to youth programs, classroom education, and everyday life. With this webinar, we expect to bring awareness to positive youth development and make this a mainstream approach for youth from all walks of life.

This webinar is about engagement, as we want the attendees to walk away understanding how to incorporate this into their education plans and youth programs.
